Garage Flooring

When remodeling your garage, you have a lot of things to take into consideration. You want to create enough space for you to store all of your items, but you also want to ensure that the garage is functional and that it is perfect for your intended use.

With that in mind, one of the major areas where you’d want to focus on will be the garage flooring. It might seem like a minor area, but consider this - the floor of your garage is pretty much where all of the load is placed. You walk on the floor, put things on it, and pretty much step on the floor wherever you go. In more ways than one, the garage floor takes the most significant beating of any part.

This is why you want to make sure that your garage floor is perfect for what you need to use the  garage itself for. Although intended uses tend to vary, here are some of the most prominent options for garage flooring available.

Polished concrete

Arguably the most popular choice of garage flooring is polished concrete. Here, concrete has been ground and treated with different materials - usually resin-bond diamond. Polished concrete is an industrial flooring option that offers optimal durability and strength regardless of the use.

While the material might be a bit pricey, you’ll find that its long-term durability pretty much means it will pay for itself in the long run.

Epoxy flooring

Any floor coated with the epoxy substance pretty much qualifies as epoxy flooring. The epoxy substance itself is made from hardeners mixed with polymer resins, and it helps to protect the floor against impact-related damage.

With epoxy following, you get different style options - ranging from marble and timber to natural stone and even concrete.

Natural stone

When applied properly, natural stone can actually work great for garage flooring. Materials like sandstone and graphite are strong enough to easily withstand impact and the elements, and while they can be pricey as well, they surely give you enough value for your money. Stone flooring easily lasts for decades, and it provides an impressive aesthetic value for your garage.

Rubber tile

Commonly associated with gyms, rubber tile is impressive for its ease of use and safety. For an average garage, rubber tile flooring easily works. And, with its interlocking patterns, it does add more curb appeal to your flooring. You’d also love the fact that rubber tile isn’t so expensive.

Nevertheless, rubber tile isn’t quite as strong as most of the other materials on the list. So, if you need a garage floor that can withstand the heaviest of contact, rubber tile might not necessarily be what you want.
