Parking Lifts -

Recently, there’s been a notable increase in the sizes of vehicles. SUVs have been especially bulky recently, and there’s also been a notable increase in the sizes of smaller cars like sedans and coupes.

This has led to an increased desire for parking lifts. These lifts allow you to easily maximize the amount of space available in your garage, and they can be a good addition to your existing setup. However, you also need to keep height requirements in mind before you install a parking lift.

What are parking lifts and what do you need them for?

As its name probably suggests, a parking lift is a hydraulic or mechanical system that is designed to elevate or lower vehicles in a garage. The gal of a parking lift is to optimize space, allowing you to easily move up and down and providing enough space for more cars to be parked in a garage or an enclosed space.

If your home garage is tight on space or you’d like to easily park multiple cars, then a parking lift is a solid option. It allows you to stack cars together, essentially doubling - or, in some cases, even tripling - the number of cars that your garage can hold.

Some notable parkin lift types include:

Two-post lifts: These parking lifts don’t move because they are bolted to the floor. Instead, they lift your car from its middle section and stack it up.

Scissor lifts: For making small repairs to your vehicle, a set of scissor lifts will work more than fine.

Four-post lifts: Like the two-post lifts, these ones are also bolted to the floor, thus providing a secure hold on the ground. You can easily drive your car into one, elevating it from four corners.

In-ground lifts: Built into the floor, these lifts descend when they are unused. This allows you to maximize your garage space quite nicely.

What is the minimum garage height for a parking lift?

The minimum height for a garage lift can actually vary quite well. Some sources claim that typical parking lifts will fit into garages with ceilings as low as 8 feet, depending on the height of the cars. On the other hand, some sources believe that garage lifts will need at least 12 feet in height.

Despite the varying estimates, 12 feet seems like a good height range for you to start with if you’re looking to get a parking lift.

Garage Cabinet

Every now and then, the need arises to change the way your garage looks. It could be because you’ve finally seen just how effective the garage can be as a standalone part of the house, or it could be because you want to finally sell the house and you need to ensure that the garage remains in top shape so you can get the most value for it.

Whatever the reason, garage remodels happen pretty often. And like every other part of the house, the dream for a garage remodel is to be able to get it done without having to spend so much money. While garage remodeling is never particularly a cheap endeavor, there are different ways for you to still save money and not have to break the bank because of it. Here are a few hacks that could help you out:

Take the garage door personal

One of the very first things you want to do while handling a renovation of your garage is to begin with the door. Since it is one of the most visible parts of the garage, it is important that you handle it with care and make sure it looks good.

If you’re not in the mood to replace the door, then you could just repaint it and give it a facelift. And, if you want to add a bit more spice to it, a few more hardware will help to give it that fresh look.

Improve storage space

Another important tip for you will be to optimize the storage space available in the garage. Generally, the biggest recommendation will be to add some garage cabinets. They are easy to incorporate into your existing setting, and they help to make the entire garage look more appealing.

Cabinets are also especially great because they are relatively inexpensive. So, you don’t lose much at all.

Change the garage flooring

If a full spruce up is what you’re after, then we would recommend getting a fresh face for your flooring. The floor covers the largest surface area of the entire garage, and you can’t possibly hide it. So, you would need to make a few fresh changes to it as you hope to renovate the entire garage.

For floors, you could choose the traditional concrete option or go for something more exquisite like epoxy flooring. You could also look out for additional finishes and coatings that will help to make your floor colors pop.
